Jaipur: Rajasthan Police on Wednesday arrested three more suspects in the state’s international cyber slavery case, alleging they were part of a transnational network that recruited Indians for Chinese-run cyber scam compounds in Cambodia, where they were allegedly forced into online fraud.SP (Cyber Crime) Sumeet Meharda said the arrests, based on intelligence shared by Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), have taken the total number of accused held in the case to eight. The arrested men were identified as Arif Kathat, Kanu Singh and Firoz Kathat.According to investigators, the syndicate operated across Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand, luring Indians with promises of hotel and other jobs offering salaries of USD 700-1,000 a month. Once abroad, the victims’ passports were allegedly confiscated and they were forced to work in scam compounds controlled by Chinese handlers.Police said the victims were trained to operate fake female social media profiles and lure targets into cryptocurrency investment scams, “digital arrest” fraud and other online scams.Investigators said digital evidence, including passports, travel records, WhatsApp chats, VPN usage and cryptocurrency-related data, has established links between Indian recruiters and overseas operators.During interrogation, one accused allegedly admitted recruiting four more Indians to Cambodia in exchange for commissions, while another described how fake Facebook profiles were used to approach victims before conversations were handed over to foreign handlers.Further investigation in the case is underway.
