Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Wednesday appointed senior IAS officer Jaffer PC as the new Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), replacing Ravishankar J, who has been transferred.Jaffer, a 2003-batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, had been holding additional charge as BMRCL Managing Director since the end of June after Ravishankar proceeded on leave. Prior to his appointment, he was serving as Secretary (Budget and Resources) in the Finance Department.Ravishankar had served as BMRCL Managing Director for nearly a year after taking charge in July 2025. His transfer marks yet another change at the helm of the metro corporation, where frequent leadership changes have coincided with repeated delays in the rollout of new metro corridors. Several planned stretches have missed their commissioning deadlines, while no new metro project has entered the construction phase in the last 4.5 years.Meanwhile, Reju MT, a 2005-batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Secretary (Budget and Resources) in the Finance Department.
