Ranchi: Former CM Raghubar Das on Tuesday backed students protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and urged chief minister Hemant Soren to initiate talks with them and recommend a CBI probe into controversies surrounding the JPSC, JSSC and CGL examinations.In a letter to Hemant, Das said he was raising the issue not as a former CM or with a political motive, but as someone familiar with student movements. He recalled his association with the 1974 student agitation, which marked the beginning of his political journey.Das said tribal and local youths were deeply worried about their future and questioned why the state govt had not responded decisively to their concerns.Citing the Centre’s response to the NEET paper leak controversy, Das said the Union govt had engaged with protesting students and acted promptly, including by ordering a CBI investigation and introducing measures to prevent similar irregularities.He urged the state govt to transfer the investigation from the CID to CBI and reassure students that their future was secure and that safeguards would be put in place to prevent such controversies from recurring.
