Nagpur: With barely five days left for voters to submit enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Nagpur continues to remain among the urban districts that lag in the exercise. Nagpur has recorded nearly 90% form distribution and 60.44% digitisation, reflecting the logistical hurdles unique to large cities. Other districts across Vidarbha have almost wrapped up the exercise.Across Maharashtra, 93.79% forms have been distributed and 72.89% digitised. Now, Election Commission’s will have to collect the forms, verify and upload them before the Aug 8 deadline.As per the latest figures released by the district administration on Aug 3, only a handful of districts — Pune, Thane, Mumbai Suburban, Nagpur and Mumbai City — remain below the 90% distribution mark. Election officials said this is largely because metropolitan districts continue to grapple with frequent migration, rented accommodation, locked houses, gated societies and working residents who are often unavailable during repeated visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).The familiar rural-urban divide remains visible within the district. Nagpur’s six rural Assembly constituencies have collectively digitised 72.03% of forms, against 50.07% across the six constituencies. Umred leads at 82.33%, followed by Ramtek at 79.79%, Katol at 76.58%, Saoner at 72.89%, Kamptee at 68.27% and Hingna at 61.35%.In the city, Nagpur East leads at 54.98%, followed closely by Nagpur Central at 54.26% and Nagpur South West at 51.49%. Nagpur North has reached 47.85%, Nagpur South 46.98%, while Nagpur West remains the slowest urban segment at 45.35%. Only 15,184 Nagpur electors, 0.33% of the district electorate, have submitted forms online on their own, whereas 824 BLOs out of the 4,610 in the district have completed 100% digitisation.The contrast is most evident in Vidarbha. Barring Nagpur, every other district in the region has already crossed 98% distribution, with Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Washim, Amravati, Wardha, Gondia, Bhandara and Akola all recording more than 80% digitisation. Yavatmal has distributed virtually all forms and digitised 87.93%, while Hingoli leads Maharashtra overall at 90.47% digitisation.Officials clarified that missing the Aug 8 deadline will not permanently deprive an eligible citizen of enrolment. Those whose names do not appear in the draft roll on Aug 17 can still apply through Form 6 during the claims-and-objections period from Aug 17 to Sept 16, after which eligible names will be incorporated into the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on Oct 19.
