Lucknow: The state capital has been placed on high alert ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly session beginning Monday, with the police commissionerate deploying over 1,500 personnel, ATS teams and multiple surveillance units across the city to prevent any disruption to law and order.A five-km security ring has been established around Vidhan Bhavan, where round-the-clock monitoring will be in place throughout the session. The heightened security comes amid apprehensions of protests by political parties, farmers’ groups and other organisations.Police have enforced prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS within the designated security zone and warned of strict action against violations.Senior officers said ATS personnel, intelligence units and local police teams have been integrated into the security grid, with special focus on Vidhan Bhavan, Lok Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, the chief minister’s residence and other key govt installations. Extensive checking, anti-sabotage sweeps and surveillance measures have also been intensified.As part of the restrictions, movement of tractors, tractor-trolleys, bullock carts, horse-drawn vehicles and other slow-moving vehicles has been barred within Assembly security perimeter. Carrying firearms, explosives, inflammable substances and other hazardous materials in the restricted zone has also been prohibited.Police have also banned protests, demonstrations and unauthorised gatherings within the high-security area. Officials reiterated that Eco Garden remains the only designated venue for protests in Lucknow, and any demonstration elsewhere without permission will invite legal action.Drone operations have been completely prohibited over Vidhan Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Lok Bhavan and other govt complexes. Elsewhere in the city, flying drones will require prior police approval.The commissionerate has further directed field units to monitor social media platforms closely and take action against those spreading rumours, fake news or provocative content capable of disturbing public order.
