Srinagar, Aug 3: Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aquib Nabi has earned his maiden call up to the Indian Test team after being named as the replacement for injured pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming two match World Test Championship 2027 series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah has been ruled out after failing to recover fully from a knee injury.
The uncapped pacer has been rewarded for his impressive performances in domestic cricket, where he consistently emerged as one of the leading wicket takers. His selection marks a big milestone for J&K cricket, with Nabi becoming one of the few cricketers from the region to receive a Test call up.
India will begin the Sri Lanka Test series on August 15, with Aquib now in line to make his international debut if included in the playing eleven.
