Jaisalmer: A man died after falling into a pond at Khejariyali village in Balotra district Sunday. According to the police, Dhana Ram Bheel (45) went near the pond for some work but lost control and fell into the water. He drowned before the nearby people could help him. Villagers informed the local administration about the incident. Following this, sub-divisional officer Ashok Vishnoi initiated a rescue operation. A special civil defence team from Balotra which included Rajasthan home guard, Gautam Gehlot arrived at the scene. Local swimmers were also immediately dispatched in the pond. During the operation, Samdari Police Station SHO Om Prakash, Tehsildar Shaitan Singh from civil administration and villagers were present at the scene. The team recovered the body of the victim after an hour. The administration has sent the body for post-mortem and is proceeding with further actions. Family of the deceased is in deep shock. Locals have demanded the administration to implement safety measures around ponds to prevent such incidents in future.
