Hyderabad: A criminal case was registered against an unknown social media handle for allegedly posting objectionable comments against a senior officer from the Telangana police department.The case was registered after the objectionable comments were noticed during cyber patrolling by the staff of TG Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). After the issue was flagged, a criminal case was registered under sections 79 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman), 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 353 (Statements conducing to public mischief), 356 (Defamation) of BNS.“The contents of the post are indecent, insulting and offensive to the dignity of a woman and appear to have been deliberately published with an intention to humiliate and defame her on a public social media platform. The language used in the post is capable of outraging the modesty of a woman and lowering her reputation in the eyes of the public,’’ police said in the FIR.Apart from the officer, the unknown accused also made comments about other individuals. There were several other posts on his handle that were vulgar in nature. Police have started their investigation.
