Times News NetworkKanpur: Thieves broke shutters and locks and damaged CCTV cameras of four shops in Makanpur town under Araul police station in Kanpur late on Saturday night, police said.The miscreants attempted to break into mobile, jewellery, cosmetic and clothing shops. However, after sensing movement of someone arriving or passing by, they fled the spot and could not steal any goods.Shopkeepers reached the market on Sunday morning and found the shutters and locks of four shops broken. Fearing a major theft, chaos erupted in the market and the news spread across the area within a short time.On receiving information, police reached the spot and inspected the shops. As no goods were found stolen from inside, the shopkeepers felt relieved, but traders expressed anger over repeated incidents.More than a dozen shopkeepers submitted a complaint letter to the police, demanding an increase in night patrolling and stronger security arrangements in the market.
