T’puram: Acting on a tip-off, the district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) conducted a raid and arrested two people with MDMA at Neeruvila in Manamboor on Saturday.The accused were identified as Mohammed Shan, 33, of Maruthikunnu in Navaikulam, and Tasleena, 24, of Kollakkadavu in Chengannur.During the search, the Dansaf team allegedly recovered around 5g of MDMA from the house. Preliminary investigation indicated that the house had been rented primarily to stock and sell the narcotic substance to customers in and around the area.Police also said Shan had previously been arrested in another drug-related case. Investigators are examining whether the accused were part of a wider drug distribution network operating in the district and are trying to identify the source from where the contraband was procured. Further investigation is under way to ascertain whether more people were involved in the racket.The operation was carried out based on confidential information received by the district rural police. After monitoring the house for two days, the Dansaf team conducted the raid and took the accused into custody.The team comprised Dansaf sub-inspectors Manu and Biju, assistant sub-inspector Anoop, and civil police officers Umarul Farooq, Vinesh, Sujil and Sunil Raj. The accused were booked under relevant provisions of NDPS Act and will be produced before the court.
