Ahmedabad: Calling the suicide by a family of five at Bagodara as a worrying incident, the state unit of the Congress party demanded that the govt must ensure that citizens do not take extreme measures because of financial problems.Speaking to reporters on Sunday, state spokesperson Manish Doshi said, “According to official data of the past two years, on average, a family commits suicide every two months because of a financial crisis. In the past three years, 25,478 people committed suicide,” Doshi said. He added, “On one hand, the state govt has been making tall claims of economic development, and on the other, a poor family is driven to suicide because of a financial crisis. It has to be the priority of the state govt to ensure the welfare of poor and common citizens.” tnn
