Jhansi: UP Tourism and Culture Minister and district in-charge Jaiveer Singh on Saturday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply, crack down on unethical medical practices in government hospitals and expedite infrastructure projects during a district-level review meeting at the Collectorate.Reviewing implementation of key govt schemes and development projects, Singh asked officials to work in close coordination to ensure that welfare programmes reach every eligible beneficiary. He also directed department heads to maintain regular communication with elected representatives and keep them informed about ongoing projects.Power supply, particularly in rural areas, remained a key focus of the meeting. The minister instructed the electricity department to ensure uninterrupted supply to agricultural feeders so that paddy farmers do not face irrigation shortages. He also directed officials to replace and augment transformers on time, install additional electricity poles wherever required and conduct regular inspections of feeders and transmission lines. Public representatives appreciated the recent improvement in power supply while urging officials to resolve pending local issues promptly.Reviewing the urban water supply, Singh directed officials of the Jal Nigam and Jal Sansthan to ensure uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to every household. He also asked officials implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure functional household tap connections and address distribution gaps by installing booster systems wherever required.Expressing displeasure over roads left damaged after pipeline works, the minister ordered an immediate survey and restoration of such stretches.Taking serious note of complaints that doctors at the district hospital were allegedly prescribing medicines available only in the private market despite adequate availability in the hospital, Singh ordered strict action. He directed officials to register FIRs and initiate legal proceedings against those found involved in unethical practices.Earlier, the minister virtually laid the foundation stone for three income-generating projects in Khailar gram panchayat of Babina block—a Rural Mart, a mini sports stadium and a community marriage hall—to be built at an estimated cost of ₹1.25 crore. The projects are aimed at boosting the gram panchayat’s own-source revenue, generating employment and improving rural civic amenities.Before the review meeting, Singh felicitated meritorious girl students under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. He later chaired a core committee meeting to review the progress of development projects across the district with public representatives.
