Buxar: A joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Govt Railway Police (GRP) arrested three women and seized 32.94 litres of liquor during a checking drive aboard the Amritsar-Howrah Mail at Buxar railway station on Friday night.The operation was carried out as part of a special campaign against liquor smuggling. During the search of Amritsar-Howrah Mail, the team recovered liquor worth around Rs 25,350 from the possession of the three women, police said.The accused were identified as Kanchan Devi, wife of Ranjit Sahni, a resident of Miyatoli in Khusrupur; Sita Devi, wife of Manoj Sahni, a resident of Bastar under Nadi police station; and Shanti Devi, wife of Munna Pasi, a resident of Salimpur in Patna district. The liquor was seized and all three women were taken into custody.GRP Buxar SHO Mani Chandra Pandey said on Saturday that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. They were later produced before a court for further proceedings.RPF inspector Kundan Kumar said joint checks at railway stations and onboard trains are being conducted regularly to curb liquor smuggling and ensure strict enforcement of Bihar’s prohibition law.
