Hazaribag: A drug peddler was arrested with 5 grams of brown sugar from near Bhurkunda forest in Chatra district on Saturday, Itkhori police said.Officer in-charge of the Itkhori police station Abhishek Kumar Singh said, “Acting on the directions of SP Animesh Naithany, a team, led by DSP (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh, cordoned off the area. Accused Raju Kushwaha (28), a resident of Pitij village, was apprehended near a bridge at Daridag Mor under the Bhurkunda forest area on the Chatra–Itkhori road while he was allegedly negotiating a drug deal. Around 5 gm of brown sugar, wrapped in a paper packet inside a plastic bag, and a mobile phone were seized from the accused.”“An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and the accused sent to judicial custody. Kushwaha is a history-sheeter, with two cases registered against him at the Itkhori police station. A hunt has been launched to trace and arrest other members of the network,” he added.
