Rajkot: A case has been registered at Kamla Bagh police station in Porbandar against former MLA and gangster Bhura Munja Jadeja’s wife, Hiralba Jadeja, along with known history-sheeter Hiral Odedra and two unidentified individuals. The case, filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Gujarat Money Lenders Act, stems from allegations of illegal moneylending, extortion, and criminal intimidation.According to the FIR lodged by 56-year-old fish trader Harish Postaria, his late brother Dinesh had borrowed Rs 75 lakh at a 3% monthly interest rate from Bhura Munja in 2012. As security, the brothers handed over documents of three properties collectively worth Rs 1.66 crore. From 2012 to 2016, they regularly paid Rs 2.25 lakh per month as interest. After Dinesh passed away in 2016, Hiralba Jadeja allegedly took over the dealings and continued demanding monthly interest payments.Postaria alleged that in 2017, after a payment delay of just a few days, Hiralba demanded a 10% penalty. When Harish’s nephew Sunil visited her residence to make the payment, she allegedly detained him for hours and forcibly seized his motorcycle, insisting on an additional Rs 7.5 lakh as penalty. Despite paying Rs 2.5 lakh later, she added Rs 5 lakh to the principal, raising the loan amount to Rs 80 lakh and increasing the monthly interest to Rs 2.4 lakh.In 2019, the family missed monthly payments due to financial hardship. Postaria claimed that Hiralba then sent three men, including Hiral Odedra, to intimidate them. Over time, he alleged, Hiralba extorted over Rs 4 crore from the family — far exceeding the principal — and continues to demand Rs 10.9 lakh more. Despite the excessive payments, she allegedly refuses to return the property documents.Police have registered the case under BNS sections 308(5) (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 352 (assault or use of criminal force), 127(2), and 54, along with relevant provisions of the Gujarat Money Lenders Act.
