Aizawl: A 40-year-old man, Rotluanga from Kolasib district, was buried alive on Sunday morning after very heavy rainfall led to the collapsing of a massive stone mine at Sairang village, near Aizawl.The incident unfolded, when the deceased individual’s rented house was swept away by the collapsing stone mine, before volunteers, with the help of excavators and manual labour, could successfully retrieve his body around midday.Mizoram has been plagued by continuous rainfall, triggering massive landslides across five different locations within Mamit district, cutting off NH-108, which serves as a crucial link between Aizawl and Tripura. While connectivity to Lengpui airport from Aizawl, too, had been hit after a landslide occurred at a place called ‘Pukpui, the state Public Works Department managed to clear the debris by noon.
