Ludhiana: The 36th sub-junior, 48th junior, and 46th senior Punjab State Swimming Championships concluded at PAU Sunday. Organised by the Punjab Swimming Association, the event brought together hundreds of athletes across age categories and districts from from July 18 to 20. Mohali emerged as the overall champion in both the junior and senior categories. In the senior championship, Mohali’s swimmers outpaced Ludhiana to secure the top spot with 115 points in the women’s division and 81 points in the men’s, giving them a combined total of 196. Ludhiana followed as runners-up with 33 and 42 points respectively.The junior division also saw Mohali reign supreme. In the Girls I category, Mohali tallied 92 points against Ludhiana’s 42, while in Boys I, they narrowly beat Ludhiana 74 to 66. Although Pathankot claimed victory in Girls II with 72 points against Ludhiana’s 62, and Jalandhar edged out Mohali in Boys II (62 to 55), Mohali’s aggregate score of 232 ensured their overall championship in the junior segment as well.The sub-junior category brought local cheer as Ludhiana clinched the overall championship title with 63 points, thanks to a commanding performance in the Girls III division. tnn
