Ahmedabad: In view of the heavy rainfall forecast and red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), all schools and colleges in Ahmedabad city and district will remain closed on July 31. The decision was taken on the instructions of the Ahmedabad collector, with student safety being the top priority.The closure order covers all govt, grant-in-aid and self-financed educational institutions, including primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as colleges across the city and district.According to an official communication, all academic activities will remain suspended for the day. Authorities have directed institutions to strictly comply with the order, stressing that the safety of students cannot be compromised amid the prevailing weather conditions.Schools and colleges have been asked to immediately notify teachers, parents and students about the closure through available communication channels, including WhatsApp, SMS and phone calls, to ensure the information reaches everyone concerned.Officials said any decision regarding reopening or further holidays will be taken after reviewing the weather situation and communicated separately by the district administration. Citizens and educational institutions have been advised to rely only on official updates and not act on unverified information.BoxAnganwadis closed till Aug 3As a precautionary measure, AMC-run Anganwadis will remain closed from July 31 to Aug 3. “To ensure that children do not face any difficulty in commuting during heavy rainfall and to avoid potential risks, operations in all AMC-run anganwadis will remain suspended until Aug 3,” said an AMC official. Ahmedabad Municipal School Board has also decided to keep all city schools it runs closed on July 31.
