KRISHNAGIRI: The district additional sessions court in Hosur on Thursday sentenced a woman, her brother and her father-in-law and to life imprisonment for the murder of her lover. Lakshmi of Thottepalli village near Shoolagiri was in an illicit relationship with Murali of the same locality. Her husband, Srinivasan, was unable to bear the affair and died by suicide. After his death, Lakshmi moved to her mother’s house in Busthalapalli along with her children, and Murali continued to meet her frequently. Lakshmi’s father-in-law, Pasappa, was enraged over his son’s death. He blamed Murali for his son’s death. Murali wanted to marry her, but she was not ready. On Feb 21, 2020, Murali met Lakshmi in a field. “Pasappa, along with Lakshmi’s brother, Narasimha Raju, confronted Murali. In the altercation that followed, the trio attacked him with bamboo poles, killing him on the spot,” said an officer at Shoolagiri police station. Police arrested Pasappa, Narasimha Raju and Lakshmi. After a prolonged trial, judge Santosh found all three guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1,000 each.
