Ranchi: BJP MPs from Jharkhand on Wednesday staged a protest near Parliament’s Makar Dwar over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations, accusing JMM-led alliance govt in the state of adopting “double standards” on issues concerning students and job aspirants.Holding placards and raising slogans against Hemant Soren govt, the MPs sought accountability for alleged recruitment scams and paper leaks. The protest was led by BJP’s Jharkhand unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu.Sahu alleged that Congress leaders had raised students’ concerns elsewhere in the country but remained silent on recruitment controversies in Jharkhand, where the party is part of the coalition govt.Referring to JPSC, JSSC-CGL and other recruitment examinations, Sahu said Congress should clarify its position, demand action and seek the resignation of chief minister. He also referred to the deaths of nearly two dozen candidates during physical efficiency tests for the excise constable recruitment drive.The MPs reiterated BJP’s demand for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities and paper leaks in recruitment examinations conducted during the six years of Hemant govt.The protest came amid a CID investigation into alleged malpractice in the recently cancelled 14th JPSC civil services examination. The agency has arrested 10 people in connection with the case. Former JPSC chairperson L Khiangte was questioned in Ranchi for a second consecutive day on Wednesday.Sahu alleged that state govt was trying to suppress the matter through CID investigation and claimed that only an independent probe could ensure accountability.“I challenge the Congress leadership to visit Jharkhand and address the concerns of students and job aspirants. If Congress is serious about youth-related issues, it should reconsider its support to the Hemant govt and seek accountability for the recruitment controversies,” he said.Godda MP Nishikant Dubey also alleged that CID investigation was intended to cover up the matter. He said JPSC chairperson had resigned after the probe began, but a commission member who, he claimed, is the wife of a JMM general secretary had not stepped down. Dubey also accused Congress of lacking the will to act.BJP has 11 MPs from Jharkhand — 8 in Lok Sabha and 3 in Rajya Sabha.
