T’puram: A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to distribute narcotic substances procured through a courier service as part of a crackdown under Operation Toofan in Thiruvananthapuram rural.The accused Arun is a resident of Chathanpara. According to police, he was intercepted while allegedly attempting to collect a parcel containing narcotic substances sent through a DTDC courier outlet at Kallambalam.During the inspection, police seized 220g of ganja and 0.03g of MDMA from his possession. Officials said the seizure was made during a special inspection led by the Thiruvananthapuram rural district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) as part of the ongoing anti-drug drive.A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.Thiruvananthapuram rural district police chief B K Prasanthan Kani said intensified inspections and enforcement drives under Operation Toofan would continue across the district to curb the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances through courier services and other channels.
