Hyderabad: Airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul provider GMR Aero Technic on Tuesday said it has signed a licence agreement with Honeywell Aerospace to service line replaceable units for LEAP engines, strengthening domestic support for Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX operators.The agreement authorises GMR Aero Technic to carry out repair, overhaul and depot-level maintenance on seven Honeywell LRUs fitted to LEAP engines. The work will cover full disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly and functional testing of critical engine control systems, the companies said.Ashok Gopinath, president and accountable manager of GMR Aero Technic, said the partnership would expand the company’s component MRO portfolio and support operators in India and the wider region with efficient and reliable repair solutions. He said Honeywell’s technology, combined with GMR Aero Technic’s repair infrastructure, would help deliver high-quality services for LEAP engine customers.Cooper Cullen, president for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India at Honeywell Aerospace, said India remained one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets and that regional LEAP engine LRU support was a priority for the company. He described GMR Aero Technic as a vital partner in expanding Honeywell’s MRO capabilities in India.The companies said the arrangement would combine Honeywell’s aircraft systems expertise with GMR Aero Technic’s certified facilities and skilled workforce. In-region repair capability is expected to improve turnaround times, enhance service quality and offer more cost-effective solutions for airlines. The partnership also supports India’s “Make in India” programme by reducing dependence on overseas MRO services for airlines.
