Nagpur: More than 600 residents of Ghorad village in Kalmeshwar taluka received free medical consultations and preventive health screenings on Sunday as the Indian Air Force (IAF) arranged specialist healthcare services for the rural population through a multispecialty outreach camp.Organised under the Centre’s ‘Mission LiFE’ initiative, the ‘Freedom Health Camp — Celebrate Freedom with Good Health’ was conducted under the aegis of the Air Force Families Welfare Association (Regional) (AFFWA-R), Maintenance Command.Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, inaugurated the camp. Specialists from the Armed Forces Medical Services provided consultations in general medicine, ENT, ophthalmology, surgery, gynaecology, paediatrics, and dental care.General outpatient services, preventive health screenings, and dental examinations were also conducted free of cost. The medical team was led by Air Vice Marshal Sachin S Shouche, Principal Medical Officer, Headquarters Maintenance Command.Headquarters Maintenance Command plans to organise similar multispecialty medical outreach camps at regular intervals over the next one year to ensure sustained healthcare support and promote healthier communities.The camp also focused on preventive healthcare and healthy living. Awareness posters carrying messages such as ‘Fit for Life’ and ‘Eat Light, Eat Right’ were displayed at the venue.AFFWA (R) president Yalla Sreevalli distributed nutrition packs, sports kits, and stationery among underprivileged children of the village and children from the anganwadi school. The initiative was aimed at supporting child health, nutrition and education.A tree plantation drive was also carried out in the village under the Union govt’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. Officials said the outreach programme seeks to strengthen access to quality healthcare in rural areas, improve awareness about preventive health practices and contribute to the wellbeing of neighbouring communities through a series of regular medical camps.
