Bhubaneswar: An induction programme for newly-recruited post graduate teachers (PGTs) of govt higher secondary schools and upgraded govt higher secondary schools under the school and mass education department began in Bhubaneswar on Monday. The five-day training programme will run until July 31. Around 120 PGTs, including teachers of political science, Sanskrit and economics, are taking part in the workshop.The initiative aims to prepare teachers with the necessary skills and understanding for effective classroom instruction, academic management and learner-focused education in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.Higher secondary education director Niyati Pattnaik said the training module has been planned keeping in mind the practical requirements of teachers. She said the sessions would help participants improve the teaching-learning process and contribute to the overall growth of students.The workshop will cover several important areas, including key provisions of NEP 2020, gender-inclusive education, use of ICT in classrooms, Odisha Education Rules, SAMS and Shikshajyoti portals, the POSH Act, scholarship programmes, administrative duties, examination and evaluation methods, and career counselling.According to an official statement from the department, the programme is expected to strengthen the professional abilities of teachers and help improve the quality of higher secondary education across Odisha.
