Patna: RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday called for dethroning the NDA govt to put a check of paper leak scandals and warned of a “massive protest” if the students arrested during protests against the alleged NEET paper leak were not released within 24 hours.Returning to Patna after spending 24 days abroad, Tejashwi alleged that students protesting against the alleged NEET paper leak and examination irregularities were subjected to excessive police force and even jailed despite a formal understanding reached between the govt and the protesting group in Delhi on Saturday.“When it was agreed (between the govt and the protesting group) in Delhi yesterday that all cases against the protesting students will be withdrawn and they will be released, why were the students and all political activists jailed?” asked Tejashwi at the Patna airport on Sunday.

He warned of an intensive statewide protest if the students and all political activists arrested during the agitation were not released by Monday evening.Seeking people’s support to remove the govt from power, the RJD leader said as long as this regime remains in power, paper leaks will continue to happen. Calling the police action an open display of “dictatorship”, Tejashwi said the govt’s actions would neither intimidate the opposition nor deter students from raising their voices.Pointing accusing fingers at CM Samrat Choudhary, Tejashwi charged the police with treating people ruthlessly during the Bihar bandh, alleging that shots were fired from AK-47 rifles too.“Shots were fired from deadly AK-47 on a boy who was returning home after shutting down his shop, a youth who was carrying birthday cake and another one who had come here to apply for caste certificate. How inhumane the police action is?” he asked, while also questioning the arrest of his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav.He added that several protesters were charged under the attempt to murder section. He alleged that scores of students were still being held in custody across various districts and false cases had been filed against them under “incorrect” legal sections.Tejashwi further praised the students who protested against the paper leak. “We salute their protest…They have fought for their rights and for a better future,” he said. Later, he visited the hospital where the injured persons were admitted for treatment.Reacting to Tejashwi’s outburst, state JD(U) president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said the leader of ppposition had crossed all limits of propriety, rattled by his repeated political failures. Advising him to maintain political decency, Kushwaha said derogatory remarks against the CM were just not acceptable.
