Patna: The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Notre Dame Academy, Patna, organised two student-focused initiatives to promote health awareness and environmental responsibility among primary school students.More than 240 Class V students attended an interactive session on adolescence conducted by gynaecologist Dr Sita Mukhopadhyay. She explained that adolescence is a natural phase of physical, emotional and social changes, and emphasised that menstruation is a normal biological process. She advised students to maintain menstrual calendars, adopt healthy lifestyle through sports, limit screen time and discuss concerns with parents or teachers.

Primary headmistress Sr Mary Hema SND also assured students that these changes are a normal part of growing up.The PTA also conducted a “Making Wealth Out of Waste” activity for Class II students, encouraging recycling and environmental awareness. Children used pencil shavings to create artworks, blending creativity with sustainability. Participants competed in three categories on themes including ‘Unity in Diversity – Celebrating Our Strength’, ‘Viksit Bharat@2047 – My Vision and Art as Reflection of Society’.Muhammad Zayaan, Navya Malhotra, Yafi Haider, Aakriti Shree, Lily Kumari and Anchita Srivastava secured standby positions in their respective categories. Winners received medals and certificates and will represent the Bihar–Jharkhand region at the ASISC National Level Painting Competition. Principal Farhat Hasan congratulated all participants, adding the event reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing young artistic talent.
