Srinagar, July 25: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday accused Srinagar MLAs of neglecting public issues, alleging that elected representatives had failed to fulfil promises made during the 2024 Assembly elections.
Addressing a gathering at the party headquarters in Srinagar, organised to felicitate newly elected District President Srinagar Zaffar Habib, Bukhari said the city’s residents were facing several challenges, including unemployment, poverty, inadequate housing and civic issues.
He alleged that the ruling party leaders had made several promises during the elections, including free electricity, LPG cylinders, additional ration quota, government jobs and regularisation of daily wagers, but had failed to deliver after coming to power.
“How do you sleep while the people who voted for you continue to suffer?” Bukhari asked while targeting Srinagar MLAs.
He said the Apni Party remained connected with people at the grassroots and would continue to highlight their concerns at every forum. He particularly flagged issues faced by youth, including unemployment and alleged harassment.
Bukhari assured that the party would work towards addressing public grievances through immediate relief measures and long-term solutions.
Congratulating Zaffar Habib on his election as Srinagar district president, Bukhari expressed hope that his appointment would strengthen the party’s organisational base in the city.
Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir also congratulated Habib, saying his election through a democratic process reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy. He assured him of full support in carrying out his responsibilities.
