Thiruvananthapuram: The state govt is dissatisfied with the slow pace of the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) probe into the Sabarimala gold loss case and wants the final chargesheet filed without further delay, Devaswom minister K Muraleedharan said on Thursday.Speaking to reporters after former TDB president P S Prasanth was taken into custody in the case, Muraleedharan said arrests alone were not enough and the investigation could not continue indefinitely without a final report.“We cannot remain mere spectators to the slow pace of the investigation. Arrests alone do not complete the probe,” he said. If the chargesheet is not filed by the end of this month, the govt will convey its dissatisfaction to the high court, he added.The minister said the govt had not interfered with the SIT by summoning officers, seeking their views or issuing directions. However, it had repeatedly expressed concern over the delay and was closely monitoring the progress of the investigation.Commenting on Prasanth’s detention, Muraleedharan said the former TDB president had first been questioned during the previous LDF govt’s tenure and that the latest action was a continuation of that investigation. No fresh questioning had been initiated after the present govt assumed office, he said.Responding to Prasanth’s Facebook claim that the action was politically motivated, the minister said the sequence of events suggested otherwise, as the questioning had begun under the previous administration. The minister said the latest developments meant the CPM-led LDF could no longer deny any connection with the Sabarimala gold loss case. .
