Dhanbad: Two workers died while cleaning a septic tank at Sadaryadih village in Dhanbad on Thursday. Police identified the deceased as Dilip Mahto, 42, of Sadaryadih, and Rajesh Mahto, 36, of Andhari village in Mahuda. They entered the newly built tank shut for nearly a month, and lost consciousness. Residents took them to Baghmara Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead. Circle Officer Girjanand Kisku said the exact cause would be known after post-mortem, though initial findings suggest suffocation from toxic gases. Villagers blamed BCCL negligence and sought action and compensation for the families.
