Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state unit Wednesday staged a protest march to Indira Bhavan, the Congress state headquarters, in response to the Congress demonstration outside PM Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi a day earlier. The protest disrupted traffic for hours on the busy Vellayambalam–Sasthamangalam stretch.Police used water cannon after BJP workers tried to breach barricades. Inaugurating the march, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the party respected democratic protests but alleged that demonstrations outside the PM’s high-security residence threatened national security. He said the Centre had acted decisively on the NEET paper leak by ordering a CBI probe, removing officials and conducting a re-examination.
