Ahmedabad: Following a devastating fire at a firecracker unit in Mahamadpura on Friday afternoon, Ahmedabad mayor Hitesh Barot, standing committee chairperson Kamlesh Patel, and senior civic and police officials rushed to the scene. Ordering immediate medical aid for the victims, the mayor promised strict measures against those responsible, stating, “A thorough investigation will be conducted into the causes of this incident, and action will be taken against those responsible.”The blaze broke out at an open-plot firecracker manufacturing and processing unit on Ramol-Gatrad Road, opposite Talent School. The nearby Rapid Action Force (RAF) was the first to respond, arriving immediately to retrieve several bodies and rush the injured to the hospital.The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services deployed a specialised fleet—including a mini fighter, two 20-KL water bowsers, two Rapid Intervention Vehicles, and an ambulance—to contain the blaze and conduct cooling operations. The massive rescue effort was led directly by the chief fire officer alongside senior department officials. The fire department confirmed the blaze has been completely contained, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
