Rewari: A young student pursuing a fire and safety course lost his life, while his friend sustained critical injuries after a speeding canter truck allegedly rammed their motorcycle near the Sahibi Bridge in Haryana’s Rewari district on Thursday evening. The truck driver fled the scene after the collision, prompting police to launch a search operation.According to the complaint lodged by Dharmveer, a resident of Karoli village, his nephew Shubham and his friend Rajat had travelled to Kosli Court for personal work. They were returning towards Bhiwadi via Bawal and Dharuhera when the accident occurred near the Shani Dev Temple, close to Sahibi Bridge.The impact of the collision threw both riders off the motorcycle, leaving them with severe injuries. Passers-by rushed to their aid and alerted the police and emergency medical services. The injured duo was transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Shubham dead on arrival. Rajat remains under treatment, and his condition is reported to be critical.Family members said Shubham was pursuing a fire and safety course after Class XII to build a career in the industrial safety sector. Rajat is currently continuing his studies. SHO inspector Kabool Singh said the accident took place on Thursday evening. “The body has been handed over to the family after the post-mortem. The canter driver fled the spot immediately after the accident. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused,” the SHO said.
