Jhansi: Around 46 children of a govt-run residential school in Lalitpur district were hospitalised on Thursday after allegedly falling ill following a meal served on the campus.Officials said the children were stable and under medical observation.According to officials, the incident was reported at Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya in Dhaurra, which houses nearly 700 students.Students started complaining of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain after their afternoon meal, officials said. School authorities immediately informed health officials, prompting a medical team from the nearby primary health centre to rush to the campus.All the affected students were admitted to the paediatric ward of Lalitpur Medical College for treatment.Senior district officials, including district magistrate Satya Prakash and chief medical officer Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad, visited the medical college to review the situation. State minister Manohar Lal Pant also met the students and enquired about their health.Divisional commissioner, Jhansi, Bimal Kumar Dubey who visited the hospital on Friday to enquire about the children said, “I have ordered a detailed enquiry so that we can go to the root cause. Water samples along bacteria culture is being done to understand the reason behind the probable food poisoning.”
