Panaji: Industries minister Mauvin Godinho has initiated discussions to replicate Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) integrated skill development centres in Goa to prepare Goan youth for both domestic and global employment opportunities, particularly in hospitality, maritime, logistics, and manufacturing.Godinho visited CII’s Multi Skills Training Institute in Kandivali, where CII presented the concept of establishing integrated skill development centres, model career centres, and international mobility hubs. Godinho and CII discussed the possibility of using existing govt buildings and unused institutional spaces to establish modern, industry-driven skilling centres that can serve as hubs for employment, entrepreneurship, and international job placements.State govt wants to bridge the gap between education and employment in Goa.CII highlighted its collaborations with leading industry partners across sectors, where training curricula are designed around industry requirements and supported by laboratories and practical exposure. CII, in a statement, said that classroom training along with hands-on industry experience has resulted in high employment rates.The discussions also focused on expanding training programmes in high-growth sectors such as digital technologies, animation, gaming, hospitality, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.Godinho said Goa wants to promote women entrepreneurship and home-based livelihoods through skill development, product design, packaging, branding, and market access. Ongoing efforts are aimed at women’s self-employment in garment manufacturing, handicrafts, and indigenous products. He expressed interest in working with CII to enhance these initiatives through industry expertise, design support, and market linkages.
