Thiruvananthapuram: Tamil Nadu has extended its support to Kerala’s anti-drug campaign, Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt, with home minister Ramesh Chennithala meeting Tamil Nadu chief minister Joseph Vijay in Chennai on Wednesday to strengthen inter-state cooperation against narcotics trafficking.During the meeting, Vijay lauded Kerala’s ongoing anti-drug initiative and assured full cooperation from the TN govt in the fight against drug trafficking. The two leaders agreed that Kerala and TN would work together to curb the narcotics trade through coordinated enforcement measures.Vijay said TN govt and police would stand firmly with Kerala in its campaign against drug mafias. Both sides agreed to tighten surveillance and inspections along the Kerala-TN border and enhance intelligence sharing to prevent the movement of narcotics across state lines.Chennithala, in turn, conveyed Kerala’s appreciation for TN’s anti-drug efforts and promised full support in tackling the menace.Chennithala also announced that Joseph would soon visit Kerala to participate in a mega event being organised as part of Operation Toofan’. He said Joseph would join actor Mohanlal, who has been named the campaign’s first ‘Toofan Warrior’ at the event, which will also be attended by CM V D Satheesan.Chennithala said the two states were committed to sustaining coordinated efforts beyond state borders to achieve the shared goal of building a drug-free society.
