Panaji: State govt has decided to develop a comprehensive digital inventory and geo-referenced database of traditional and heritage-linked occupations across Goa to improve inclusivity and enhance livelihood resilience.Govt will identify and map around 1.5 lakh individuals engaged in traditional and heritage occupations, and create a structured framework for identification and classification through primary data collection. A state-level study on the formalisation and inclusion of these occupations will also be conducted.A senior govt officer said, “Govt will provide comprehensive identification and mapping of traditional & heritage occupations across Goa, including their geographic distribution and sectoral presence based on primary data collected from the ground analyse occupational and livelihood characteristics such as income structures and seasonality”.The study will examine barriers to formalisation and inclusion, including institutional, financial, market and skill-related constraints, assess access to govt schemes, institutional support and market linkages, and develop actionable recommendations to improve formalisation, inclusivity and livelihood resilience.On methodology, a senior govt officer said it should integrate qualitative inquiries and quantitative surveys using a GPS-enabled digital data collection platform, internal quality assessment, stakeholder consultations, and evidence synthesis.“State-level insights on key information on ownership, employment, formalisation status, heritage continuity, access to finance, govt schemes and market linkages,” a senior govt officer said.The study is to be completed within 60 working days from finalisation of the agency, with a possible 10-working day extension subject to written request and acceptance by the directorate of planning, statistics and evaluation.
