Slug: CG Rd Drama & ‘Settlement’Ahmedabad: A privately owned car bearing a “Police” sticker and driven by a police department employee allegedly hit a two-wheeler carrying a couple on CG Road on Saturday night.Although no FIR has been registered as the parties reached a settlement, the police employee’s vehicle was subsequently seized for multiple traffic violations.The accident occurred around 1:30am. The impact threw both riders onto the road, causing injuries.After the collision, some people who gathered around the vehicle saw a police uniform inside.Bystanders alleged that the driver was intoxicated. A PCR van from Navrangpura brought both parties to the B division traffic police station.There, the rider stated that a settlement had been reached.While the rider initially told the police control room that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, he later stated he was satisfied that the police employee had not consumed any alcohol.However, B division traffic police inspector PS Patel said, “We have initiated action against the police employee. The private vehicle lacked a number plate, insurance, and a PUC certificate.”He said the car was seized and a fine of Rs 4,500 was imposed.
