Bokaro: A joint team of the excise department and Giridih police on Sunday busted an illegal factory manufacturing counterfeit foreign liquor in Bengabad’s Ghaghra area, seizing 350 boxes of fake branded liquor and a large cache of raw materials and equipment.Excise superintendent Shiv Kumar Sahu said the raid followed confidential information. “The accused were planning to circulate the fake products in the market as genuine branded liquor,” Sahu said. None was arrested in the drive as by the police reached, everybody had already escaped.The team recovered 4,000 litres of spirit, 55 rolls of fake labels, 25,000 bottle caps, 20 rolls of holograms, 1,000 cartons, 60 sacks of empty bottles, an ACE machine and 20-feet-long pipes, besides finished stock.Officials said the racket caused major revenue losses and endangered public health. “Such activities not only impact state revenue but also put innocent lives at risk,” Sahu said. Raids are on to arrest those involved.
