Alwar: Two boys drowned in a 10 foot deep farm pond in Dwarapur village under Thanagazi subdivision of Alwar district Sunday afternoon after entering the water to bathe.According to villagers, six friends had gone to the farm pond at around 12.30 pm to escape the summer heat. While four remained outside, Narendra Prajapat (15) and Golu Balai (13) entered the pond. Neither of them knew how to swim and they drowned.As the boys began to sink, they shouted for help while their four companions ran to alert villagers. By the time villagers reached the spot, both had drowned. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Thanagazi, where doctors declared them dead.Villager Rahish Khan said the pond had been constructed by farmer Hariram for irrigation. The pond was about half full following recent rainfall, and the boys apparently misjudged its depth before entering the water.Thanagazi police reached the spot after being informed. After postmortem, the bodies were handed over to the families.Sub-inspector Jasrat Singh of Thanagazi police station said the two boys died due to drowning in the farm pond. He said the matter is under investigation and no complaint had been received from the family till the filing of the report.
