NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several parts of the country on Monday, with heavy rain likely in parts of north, east, central and northeast India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also expected in several regions.
IMD weather alert for Monday
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Sikkim.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected over east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.Parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and west Madhya Pradesh may also witness thunderstorms with gusty winds.
Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow
Delhi is likely to continue witnessing isolated rain activity over the coming days. While no heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Monday, light showers may continue in parts of the region.
North India forecast
Rain is expected to remain active across the Himalayan states, with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand likely to receive heavy rainfall over the next few days.East Uttar Pradesh is also under a heavy rain alert on Monday, while Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive scattered rainfall through the week.
East India forecast
Bihar is likely to receive heavy rainfall, while Jharkhand, Odisha and parts of West Bengal are also expected to witness widespread rain, with heavy showers in some areas.Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to continue receiving heavy rainfall over the next few days, with isolated spells of very heavy rain forecast later this week.
Northeast India forecast
The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.Heavy rainfall is expected across much of the region, with rain activity likely to continue over the next several days.
Central and west India forecast
Heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh, while parts of east Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.Konkan and Goa are expected to continue receiving widespread rainfall, while central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to see scattered showers.
South India forecast
Rain is likely over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Lakshadweep.
IMD’s latest forecast
The weather department said heavy rainfall is likely to continue over parts of northwest, east and northeast India over the next three to four days.Rain activity is also expected to persist over the western coast and parts of central and southern India.The IMD has advised people in areas under heavy rain warnings to remain cautious as localised flooding, waterlogging and disruption to traffic may occur in vulnerable locations.
