Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, accusing them of undermining India’s cultural and religious heritage and dividing society along caste lines for political gains.Addressing a public gathering at Banssthan after inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 24 development projects worth around Rs 758 crore in the Pipraich Assembly constituency, the chief minister alleged that the SP’s history was “stained with the blood of Ram devotees”.He claimed that the Congress had once attempted to portray Lord Ram as a mythical figure through an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court.Yogi said development could not flourish in an atmosphere of social division and urged people to remain united for the progress of future generations. He alleged that previous governments had focused on appeasement politics instead of development, while the BJP-led double-engine govt was committed to both heritage conservation and infrastructure growth. The chief minister inaugurated five road projects worth about ₹697 crore and laid the foundation stones for 19 projects related to road connectivity and tourism development worth over Rs 60 crore.Among the key projects was the Bhathat-Banssthan four-lane road, which, he said, would improve connectivity, accelerate economic activity and generate employment opportunities in the region.Highlighting the state’s development since 2017, the chief minister said eastern Uttar Pradesh had witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, healthcare and welfare delivery. He cited projects such as the Ayush University, the Pipraich sugar mill and ongoing road infrastructure works as examples of the region’s transformation. The chief minister also visited the Vamant Mata Temple in Banssthan and offered prayers for the well-being and prosperity of the people. He distributed certificates, financial assistance, toolkits, laptops and other benefits to beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes and reviewed an exhibition showcasing the achievements of different departments.
