Berhampur: The govt has sanctioned over Rs 8.48 crore as the revised rehabilitation assistance to an additional 78 families of five villages to be displaced for the Chheligada irrigate project in Gajapati district.The revised amount was sanctioned as per the ninth biennial revision of Odisha Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy-2006, sources said. It has instructed the special land acquisition officer, Chheligada project, that the amount should be disbursed on evacuation and payment should be made through DBT mode. Supporting documents should be verified strictly before payment, said a letter to the land acquisition officer issued by the water resources department on Friday.A total of 596 families of Suguba, Tiligaon, Chadiapada, Kakili and Bidyadharpur villages will be displaced for the Rs 936-crore multi-purpose project. During the latest survey, they found an additional 78 extended families would get compensation for displacement. The govt has sanctioned over Rs 8.46 crore for these extended families,” said Rabindra Kanhar, special land acquisition officer of the project.The displaced families would be rehabilitated at Samantarapur, Babulibandh, Balipata, Chakundapalli colonies in Ganjam district and Sailanga, Ratanga and Bili Sukuba in Gajapati district. Of these, 76 families have been shifted to their rehabilitation colonies so far.
