Ranchi: Three months after 166 people, including 159 aspirants, were arrested in Ranchi district for allegedly procuring purported question papers of the Jharkhand Excise Constable Competitive Examination 2023, just hours before the written test, police on Friday filed a chargesheet against 169 accused in the civil court here.On April 11, police raided an under-construction nursing home building in Radgaon village under Tamar police station limits and arrested 166 people. The accused were found in possession of question papers, raising suspicions that they were preparing to use unfair means in the recruitment test. However, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), which conducted the exam, immediately clarified that the seized papers did not match those distributed at examination centres the next day.SP (rural) Gaurav Goswami said on Saturday, “Police filed the chargesheet under various sections of BNS and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Means for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.”Sources said investigators alleged that a syndicate assembled aspirants at the building and supplied them with the question papers. Police seized admit cards, cheques and other documents belonging to aspirants from syndicate members.Police said that evidence gathered during the investigation points to communication between syndicate members and agents who allegedly lured candidates by promising access to question papers by charging between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. Investigators also claimed to have found evidence of a money trail linking the accused.
