New Delhi: A retired PWD engineer’s house in south Delhi’s Satya Niketan was targeted by thieves who decamped with cash and valuables on the intervening night of July 5 and 6. Police said Rs 1.6 lakh in cash, two wristwatches, a mobile phone and documents were stolen.The owner initially did not report the theft or file a complaint. The case was registered only after police persuaded him to lodge a complaint, following which an e-FIR was registered on July 6.Police said the complainant’s wife has passed away, while his three daughters reside abroad.Police said that the incident is being treated as a case of house theft and not burglary. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the culprits and establish the sequence of events.
