NC has written to 52 leaders of political and religious outfits across the country, including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, inviting them to join the party’s protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 20 to press for restoration of statehood of J&K.
The party has also invited BJP’s J&K president Sat Sharma.
However, addressing a press conference here, the LoP said BJP will not participate in the protest.
“They invent theatrics to hide their failures. I fail to understand why the people of J&K fall for their theatrics. This is a mere eye wash to deflect the attention of people from real issues on the ground,” said Sharma while pointing at the problems of unemployment, water shortage and electricity crisis across J&K.
“They have enacted so many dramas over the last three generations. Now the third generation is enacting a drama at Jantar Mantar. You are indulging in corruption in the name of statehood,” said Sharma.
