Hyderabad: Telangana Retired Engineers’s Association (TREA) has asked the state govt to operate three pumping stations at Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) in view of El Niño conditions prevailing in the state.TREA president M Shyam Prasad Reddy, general secretary Tanneeru Venkatesham, and others in a statement on Thursday said as long as the water flowing in Pranahitha above the Mininum Draw Down Level (MDDL) of Medigadda i.e 93.5 metres height, water can be lifted from Medigadda at Kannepally lift as the Pranahitha is flowing at 97.5 metres height now. With this, daily about 3 tmcft of water can be lifted at Kannepally lift. The association said both Annaram and Sundilla barrages water levels and storage can be safe at 116 metres and 126 metres height water level with a capacity of total 8.8 tmcft. The TREA, the water level in three barrages are safe even if the barrages received huge inflows also. The water from three lifts can be taken till Yellampally project, the association said.The president said it is better to operate three lifts of the barrages to protect the crops of the farmers and stated that the TREA is ready to help the state govt in guiding the govt voluntarily.Ends/
