Noida: Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and four others injured after an SUV rammed into a vegetable-laden loader and then hit a motorcycle in Sector 82 on Thursday. The impact was so severe that the car went on top of the loader before skidding and flipping on its left side. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. Police are trying to trace him.Police said around 1.45 pm, the vegetable loader was travelling towards Sector 88 when a black Scorpio that was being driven in the wrong direction collided with the vehicle. The crash also scattered vegetables across the road, disrupting traffic for some time.Additional deputy commissioner of police (Central Noida) Swatantra Singh said Deepak (16), who was sitting on top of the loader, died on the spot. Four other occupants of the loader — driver Ashok Kumar (56), Akash (31), Shankar (24) and Rajveer (50) — suffered injuries. Motorcycle rider Abhishek Rai (29) was also injured.Police and emergency services rushed to the scene and took the injured people to a nearby hospital. During treatment, Rajveer succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll to two. The bodies have been sent for autopsy.The driver escaped before police arrived. Eyewitnesses claimed that he also suffered injuries in the crash but managed to flee by taking advantage of the crowd gathered. Police have registered the case based on a complaint filed by the victims’ families and are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify and apprehend the accused driver.Two videos of the accident have also surfaced on social media, showing injured people lying on the road, vegetables strewn across the carriageway, and police and ambulance staff shifting the injured to hospitals.
