Nagpur: Aggressive crime mapping and targeted action against hardcore criminals forms the first phase of the police brass’s master security blueprint, which will be rolled out this week.CP Vishwas Nangre Patil has urged senior police inspectors of each police station to parade top goons in their areas before him. “Instructions have been issued to prepare a list of top criminals, especially body offenders,” said Nangre Patil. In the initial phase, the CP has instructed his officers, especially DCP (Detections) Deepak Aggarwal, to immediately update crime mapping of all major hotspots across the city. The mapping will cover different types of crimes, including murders, robberies, thefts, burglaries, snatchings and other serious offences, along with their exact locations and timing patterns. The aim is to identify trends and strategise preventive measures to curb crime.Simultaneously, senior police inspectors have been directed to prepare a detailed list of serious offenders. This includes offenders involved in murder, attempt to murder, assault and hurt cases, as well as habitual property offenders linked to thefts, burglaries and snatchings. The CP is also reviewing the fitness and condition of police vehicles and strengthening the motor transport wing to ensure faster mobility of forces. The Crime Branch has been tasked with daily night operations and combing, targeting criminals.Teams from each police station are conducting surprise checks, vehicle verification and stopping suspicious bikers and motorists at random locations as a strong deterrent measure. Nakabandis are being set up every night at multiple locations. “The checkpoints will keep changing every night to avoid the nakabandi pattern getting predictable,” said the CP, adding traffic police will also join the initiative.Nangre Patil is taking daily reviews with his DCPs on crime trends, detection rates and quality of charge sheets to ensure strong cases that lead to convictions. He stressed increasing police visibility round the clock across Nagpur. “Police vehicles will be found at random public places,” said the CP.
