Rajkot: An offence of financial fraud has been registered at the A Division Police Station in Rajkot against one Sachin Jataniya for allegedly cheating the State Bank of India (SBI) by submitting a false affidavit to secure a home loan worth Rs 59.72 lakh. The complaint was lodged by Kanaksinh Zala, assistant general manager at SBI, stating that Jataniya had declared in an affidavit that no other loan had been taken against his property. Based on this declaration, SBI’s Gymkhana Branch sanctioned the home loan. However, the accused allegedly failed to repay the loan and it later emerged that he had previously availed Rs 32 lakh from Dhanesh Credit Co-operative Society using the same and another commercial property as collateral. This was brought to light in 2021 when Jataniya applied for a top-up loan of Rs 26.5 lakh from SBI.During the due diligence process for the top-up loan, SBI received a letter from the credit society informing them of the existing loan on the same property.
