Chennai: A special sub-inspector (SSI) attached to the Thazhambur police station has come under scrutiny for using motorcycles seized in criminal cases for personal purposes. A special team has recovered two such vehicles from his residence.According to police sources, several vehicles seized in connection with criminal cases were kept in the Thazhambur police station. Officers recently found that the sub-inspector, Rajasekar, had taken one of the seized motorcycles and was using it for his daily commute and other personal work. A video showing him riding the vehicle was recorded and circulated by a police officer, the sources said.Following this, a special police team from the Tambaram Police Commissionerate launched an inquiry. As part of the investigation, the team searched Rajasekar’s residence on East Coast Road (ECR) and found two motorcycles connected to criminal cases. He was using both vehicles for his commute to the police station. The vehicles were later seized.During questioning, Rajasekar told the inquiry team that he had been using the seized motorcycles for the past six months as his own vehicle was under repair and decided to return it at the earliest.The inquiry report has been submitted to the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, and officials said action would be taken based on its findings.
